Davazdah

What this game learns about you, and where it goes.

Davazdah runs in your browser. It has no accounts, sets no cookies and sends your results nowhere. Your record is kept in your own browser. The details are below.

Playing

The game is one page. Its own code makes no requests after the page has loaded: each day's data comes inside the page, and your guesses and scores are worked out in your browser.

The list of past puzzles is a separate page that works the same way: it makes no requests after it has loaded, and it reads and writes nothing in your browser's storage.

The game itself loads nothing from any other site: no typefaces, no pictures, no advertising. The one addition is the host's counter, described below.

What is kept in your browser

When you finish the last move of a day, the game writes one entry, named davazdah, to this browser's local storage.

It holds the day you last finished, your scores and their total, your answers that day (your guess of the pattern and your prediction), your streak, your best streak, the number of days you have played and your average.

The game uses it to show your record, and to show your result again if you come back the same day. It is not sent anywhere.

Nothing is written before you finish a day. Playing an earlier day does not change it.

To erase it, clear this site's data in your browser. There is no other copy.

No cookies are set.

Copying your result

Copy result puts a few lines of text on your clipboard: the game number, the day's question, your scores, the total and the game's address. This happens only when you press the button. The game never reads your clipboard.

Cloudflare, the host

Cloudflare serves this site. Like any host, it sees the internet address each request comes from, the time and the page asked for, and it counts visits with a small script that it adds to each page. Cloudflare states that this counter uses no cookies or other storage in your browser and does not fingerprint visitors: Cloudflare Web Analytics. Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Counting clicks on the pay button

When you click the pay button on the page for brands, the page tells sevenskyconsulting.com, the Seven Sky site that keeps this site’s counts, which link it was and on which page, and it adds one to that month’s count. It keeps the link, the page and the time, and nothing about you: no cookie, no name, no internet address. The counts are public at sevenskyconsulting.com/api/count?site=davazdah.com.

The foot of the page links to chizari.me, the personal page of Moe Chizari, and each day's answer links to the public source of that day's data. When you follow one of these links, that site is told at most the name of this one.

What is done with it

Nothing about players is sold, and nothing is shared for advertising.

The game carries no advertising and has no mailing list.

Asking about your information

The game keeps nothing about you outside your own browser, so it has nothing to look up, correct or delete. For what Cloudflare holds, see its policy above.
